Small Talk

Autumnal Flurries

You'd have to give me more.
Beyond the innuendos, the witty repartees, you'd have to give me more!

When I ask "How’s life?'
"It’s fine!" isn’t what I’m looking for;
Show me:
scars which never healed,
voids never filled;
rage crawling under your skin,
vein throbbing under your chin,
love that never found meaning,
unfulfilled urges teeming.

If we are going to get through the exile, you'd have to give me more.

When I ask 'How's work?',
give me more than just "The usual!".

Tell me:
About the disappointments,
little moments of joys.
About the intern who let you down,
the mentor who’s always around;
About the client you flirted with, or the new guy you’d have imagined to cheat me with.

If we are going to get through the distance, you'd have to give me more.

When I say 'Goodnight'; don't let me go gentle in that good night;
Stop me:
With those Whovian problems and their science of deduction,
With stories of valor and Valyrian Steel; of a Galaxy far far away;
With tales from Winter and of Summer songs , with colours of Spring and of Autumn leaves;

If we are going to get through the long night, you'd have to give me more.
